Plug-and-play Virtual Private Messaging
|
|
The VPxM distributed messaging framework has just become more distributed! Once the VPxM messaging agents are downloaded and configured via the admin tools, they instantaneously form the backbone of your own secure and reliable messaging framework which functions independently as a virtual private messaging network for your Web services located anywhere on the Internet.
VPxM 2.0 is a major architectural enhancement over its predecessor. It is the result of extensive improvement in robustness and flexibility in accordance with feedback from industry veterans on 1.x's operation model and performance.
Core architectural components of the VPxM messaging framework include the followings:
- VPxM Messaging Agents
- VPxM Sender
- Sends request messages and handles responses on behalf of Web services clients
- Secures messaging data to be consumed by the destined VPxM receivers using PKCS (Public-Key Cryptography Standards)
- Generates digital signatures for individual messages from Web services clients for authentication by recipients
- Queues messages using embedded persistence engine for reliable message delivery
- Secures transport-layer communications via SSL/TLS (Secure Sockets Layer/Transport Layer Security)
- VPxM Receiver
- Receives request messages and handles responses on behalf of Web services servers
- Secures messaging data to be consumed by the requesting VPxM senders using PKCS
- Generates digital signatures for individual messages from Web services servers for authentication by recipients
- Queues messages using embedded persistence engine for reliable message delivery
- Secures transport-layer communications via SSL/TLS
- VPxM Connector
- Functions as the receiver's external partner agent with a routable IP address
- Serves as messaging broker for the associated receiver and authorized senders
- Authenticates inquiring messaging agents by verifying their digital identities
- Authenticates individual messages using their owners' digital signatures
- Stores and queues encrypted messages using embedded persistence engine for the associated receiver and authorized senders
- Provides transport-layer security using SSL/TLS for the associated receiver and authorized senders
- VPxM Administrative Tool
- Messaging Agent Initialization
- Activate cryptographic key factory to generate PKCS keys and self-signed digital certificates for individual messaging agents
- Construct and initialize an exclusive connector for each of the receivers
- Initiate handshaking process in between senders and receivers necessary for authentication and authorization
- Define messaging channels that map to specific Web services
- Ongoing Systems Management
- Authorize new messaging agents
- Monitor and manage queued messages
- Schedule operational time windows
- Digital certificate renewal
